10. Country Boy Mine

This Class 1 (easy) “14er” (14,000+ft peak) is a prime opportunity to stretch your legs and test your acclimatization, or determine how best to explain to your insurance company why there was a mountain goat perched on top of your rental car (it’s happened). Two-wheel drive friendly and 20 minutes away, the decision whether to climb is no Quandary! Top 10 Tip: climb early, avoid storms, and plan carefully.

If you’re the kind of vacationer who likes to punish yourself, this roughly 10-mile ride from Vail climbs nearly 2,000 vertical feet before dropping down into Copper. Or you can love yourself instead by renting bikes in Frisco, taking a shuttle to the trailhead, and riding completely downhill! That’s a beer-worthy workout right there, who wants to sweat on vacation?
4. Black Powder Trail
This short 3.4-mile roundtrip Top Ten Breckenridge hike gently climbs to over 12,000 ft and is rated for beginners. You won’t be sure whether it’s the views or the altitude taking your breath away! (Answer: it’s both.) Energetic hikers can summit the nearby 13ers, Mts. Baldy and Boreas, while everyone else stands around wondering why even standing around is hard to do. Bring water and snacks! If you like your water as white as your knuckles, then Gold Rush Rafting & Cliffside Zipline have you covered. Zip across the Douglas fir and pine treetops on your way to a final 450 plunge back to the Arkansas Valley Adventures picnic area for a quick lunch at this Top 10 Breckenridge attraction.
